Rhubarb Tour - February 2019

On the first Saturday in Feburary, we welcomed a group of visitors to the farm for our Yorkshire Forced Rhubarb Tour. The weather was glorious, a perfect winter day that gave us bright blue skies, lots of lovely sunshine and the perfect sprinkling of snow.

Vicky started by taking the group on a tour of the farm and the fields, sharing her in depth knowledge of the history of the land and talking about how we grow our forced rhubarb. Back in the polytunnel, Bryn demonstrated how to split the rhubarb crowns and plant them in the tunnel. Finally, we finished up in the farm shop for tea and scones with every kind of rhubarb jam you could think of! We answered some brilliant questions from our tour group, exchanged rhubarb recipe ideas and received some fantastic feedback about our event too.

We're not going to give away all our secrets on this blog post so if you'd like to learn all about our rhubarb, then come join us for our second Yorkshire Forced Rhubarb Tour on Saturday 2 March 2019 at 10am. Spaces are limited and booking is essential. Tickets are priced at £10 and for this you will receive a tour of the farm, a talk on the history of our land, learn how we produce our rhubarb and how to grow your own, a rhubarb tasting session plus a kilo of our Yorkshire Forced Rhubarb to take home with you. If you'd like to attend the event, please call Vicky on 07981211016 or drop us an email at whiteleysgardens@yahoo.com.
